Jonathan Goff - LB - Giants
According to ESPN New York, Jonathan Goff "exceeded expectations" as the Giants' starting middle linebacker in his first year.
Goff won't blow anyone away with 81 tackles and two turnovers accounted for, but he was an elite run defender and didn't miss a start. Goff leaves in pass downs, which will always hurt him in the eyes of IDP leaguers, but the Giants use him perfectly as a two-down thumper. He'll return as a starter in 2011.
Exceeded Giants expectations? If he recorded more than 5 tackles this year he would have exceeded my expectations. I sincerely hope this doesn't mean that they are going to remain committed to him as their starting inside linebacker. Could mean that they are going to address the LB position in the draft, rather than pursue one in free agency.
Goff exceeded expectations but was ranked 92nd overall in tackles not what you want out of your middle linebacker. I know he didn't play every snap which is also a concern don't you want your defensive QB out there every down? He was solid but not outstanding, I think if they can surround him with play making outside linebackers he might actually look better (lol)
