The Wilpons Need to Sell the Team....ASAP

Is it out of the realm of posibility to think that Albert Pujols could be the Mets 1st baseman for the next 8-10 years. With Luis Castillo ($6 million) and Carlos Beltran ($18.5) coming off the books next year, that would free up almost $25 million dollars that could be spent on Pujols per year which should be enough to get it done.

Carmelo Re-Sign With the Nuggets?

According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports, Carmelo Anthony said he would "take a real hard look at" signing a contract extension with Denver if he's not traded at the deadline.
Obviously that's not a definitive answer in either direction, but a comment like this may help raise Denver management's hopes of keeping Carmelo in town. It's worth noting that Carmelo's quote comes after a Denver Post report earlier on Wednesday saying that there's a "better-than-average" chance that he won't be traded this season
Source: Marc Spears on Twitter
Why would Carmelo Anthony say this now after everything he's been saying over the past 3 months? Just as the Knicks were on the cusp of landing him cheap, leaving behind a talented squad to surround Anthony in NY, he goes and rips away any leverage that the Knicks might have had and shifts the motivation away from the Nuggets to trade him out of desperation. Not good news for Knicks fans....at all

Giants Must Regain Their Identity

The Giants haven’t won a playoff game since 2007 and have missed the playoffs entirely the last two years. Somewhere along the way, the Giants have lost their identity. They have gone from a ground and pound ball control offense with an effective opportunistic passing attack, to an all out gun slinging passing offense with an opportunistic rushing threat. Behind an aging and often banged up offensive line, the run game that was so effective in the past has been inconsistent, and the passing game has looked sloppy at times which put the Giants in a tough spot when their receivers started to go down. It is time for the Giants to re-establish their identity and find some balance on offense. In order to do this, they are going to have to beef up their offensive line.It is no secret that offensive tackle is going to be a priority this off-season with Diehl moving back to guard and Kareem McKenzie on his way out. Shaun O’Hara couldn’t keep himself on the field (despite being elected to the pro bowl…which has become a disgrace and shouldn’t even be played) and Rich Seubertis still putting his knee back together. It is time for the Giants to add depth both through free agency, and the draft. With the CBA dispute holding up free agency, it is time to focus on the draft.
With David Diehl and Chris Snee being the Giants most reliable and effective offensive lineman locking up both guard spots, the Giants must address the tackle position as well as an eventual replacement at center. Anthony Costanzo from Boston College looks like he will be the top rated offensive lineman available when the Giants pick at the nineteenth spot. Castonzo is a converted TE and has an extremely athletic build for a guy that is 6”7”305 lbs. (the guy has a 6-pack…don’t get excited Steve…Luca probably hit on him already) Castonzo started all 4 years at BC and even has a connection to the Giants. Giants assistant offensive line coach Jack Bicknell coached Castonzo during the 2007-2008 season in which Castonzo became the first true freshman lineman to start in a decade for BC. The film overall is impressive, as he shows quick feet in pass protection, and a channeled aggression in the running game, combo-ing off his blocks and getting to the second level. Jesus Montero

Jesus Montero said that he's ready for the majors, but Yankees general manager Brian Cashman hinted that he does not want to rush the organization's highly touted prospect.
Regarding Montero's chances to join the team out of spring training, Cashman said, "Russell Martin's presence here will allow for that to develop and be finished off in the proper way rather than in a rushed way." Montero is expected to battle Francisco Cervelli and Austin Romine for the backup catcher spot. One more year in Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre certainly is a possibility.

Jonathan Goff

Jonathan Goff - LB - Giants

According to ESPN New York, Jonathan Goff "exceeded expectations" as the Giants' starting middle linebacker in his first year.
Goff won't blow anyone away with 81 tackles and two turnovers accounted for, but he was an elite run defender and didn't miss a start. Goff leaves in pass downs, which will always hurt him in the eyes of IDP leaguers, but the Giants use him perfectly as a two-down thumper. He'll return as a starter in 2011.
Exceeded Giants expectations? If he recorded more than 5 tackles this year he would have exceeded my expectations. I sincerely hope this doesn't mean that they are going to remain committed to him as their starting inside linebacker. Could mean that they are going to address the LB position in the draft, rather than pursue one in free agency.

Chad Ochocinco To The Jets?

Jets CB Darrelle Revis is lobbying for Chad Ochocinco to play in New York.
"I want Chad to come here and play for us," Revis said. "I’ve been in his ear a lot about it this week ... I think he could do well here." Ocho recently said, "I would do anything to play for someone like Rex Ryan." It's worth noting that new Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden did not say Ochocinco's name once at his introductory press conference.
